At Orange Air National Guard Station, we focus on the Command and Control mission, which involves assisting ground force commanders in control of regional airspace while directing joint service aircraft and assisting in the planning, requesting, coordinating and controlling close air operations, intelligence gathering and airlift.
The 103rd Air Control Squadron, the oldest unit of it's kind, is based in Orange. Known as "Yankee Watch", the mission of the 103rd ACS is real-time detection, identification and surveillance of air traffic for combat operations and homeland defense. They provide the senior theater commander with additional means to plan, direct, and execute joint or combined air operations. by providing air surveillance photography, aircraft control, and a communication network to support air operations.
