The Colorado Air National Guard has two main bases located in Aurora and Greeley. They perform six unique missions, training and preparing the citizen-airmen to respond to the Governor of Colorado for state emergencies or to the call of the President in times of crisis.
Colorado State Benefits
The program pays up to 100% of tuition (only) at approved State schools (not to exceed $4,250 per semester/trimester or $475/credit hour). A member of the Colorado Guard, whose sole residency is in Colorado, is eligible for in-state tuition status. Becoming a member of the Colorado Guard doesn't automatically give you in-state residency, but it does make you eligible for the in-state tuition rate at state colleges and universities.
Colorado Air National Guard members will be eligible to purchase the TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS), a premium-based health plan available worldwide for qualified Selected Reserve members of the Ready Reserve and their families. Colorado Air Guard members get full medical and dental coverage for any injury or illness incurred in the line of duty.
Military Burial Assistance
County allowance of up to $50 for burial and up to $50 for setting markers for pauper Veterans.
Injury Death Benefits
A life insurance program considers the extra risks involved in military service in order to provide you and your family with added financial security at competitive rates. Each of the following insurance programs have different eligibility requirements; however, coverage enrollment is automatic for Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI), Veterans' Group Life Insurance (VGLI), and Traumatic Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (TSGLI). Speak to your recruiter to find out what programs you qualify for.
VA Home Loan benefits help Servicemembers and Veterans purchase, retain, or adapt a home. Air National Guard members may qualify for a VA-guaranteed home loan.Disabled Veterans shall have 10 points added to their grades and non-disabled Veterans shall be credited with an additional 5 points for ""state employment” for city and county governments that have a ""Merit System"" in place. Additionally, any person who is an active or retired member of the Colorado National Guard may utilize the National Guard License Plates. One time fee of $50.00 for issuance and replacement of plates, in addition to other taxes and fees.
