The largest career field in the Air National Guard is Security Forces. These highly trained individuals are there to protect, defend, and fight, if necessary. A career as a Security Forces Specialist requires extensive training in law enforcement and combat tactics. Whether at your home unit or when overseas, you'll patrol, ensuring the safety and security of base weapons, property, and personnel. You'll conduct investigations into on-base incidents, apprehend and detain suspects, secure crime scenes and testify in judicial proceedings. You'll work with your fellow Security Forces Specialists for team patrol movements, tactical drills, battle procedures, and military peacetime operations. You'll be trained in law enforcement and combat arms to protect and serve your fellow airmen , respond to emergencies, and direct traffic. Around the clock protection is your main focus, and it can lead to a satisfying career in civilian law enforcement.
