Command and Control - Airfield Management

Airfield Management

Airfield Management

One of the most important aspects of the Air National Guard is the ability of our aircraft to take off and land. The success of this process relies heavily on Airfield Management Specialists. If you choose this important career field, you'll be responsible for the upkeep of the airfields being used. You'll maintain runways and lighting systems. You'll look for foreign objects on the runway and taxiway, you'll assist in the removal of birds and wildlife using pyrotechnics or bioacoustics to frighten this threat, and you'll respond to in-flight and ground emergencies. Our aircrews need to know you're there to minimize any dangers they may have a negative affect on the ability for a plane to take off or land.
