Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Maintenance

Before Air National Guard planes take to the skies, they must be mission-ready. An Airlift/Special Mission Aircraft Mission Maintenance Specialist provides that service by conducting a pre-flight inspection. You'll be make absolutely sure the aircraft is in perfect working order, and if you find a problem, you'll assign specialists to make those repairs. During pre-flight, you'll go over the aircraft to ensure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid, and liquid oxygen. Once you've done that, you'll give the thumbs up and the aircraft can perform it's mission. When it returns, you'll handle the post-flight inspection, identifying any issues that may have occurred, with the same attention-to-detail you used before. Why is this such an important job? Because it's not just a plane you're taking care of... it's pilots, navigators, and other aircrew members.
