Officers
Flying

Each Flying Wing has a dedicated process for selecting pilots and navigators. For those who are not automatically qualified (i.e. Air Force pilots), the minimum application requirements include the following:
  • Applicants must be less than 30 years old before entering Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT).
  • All applicants for SUPT must have a 4-year college degree and pass both the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) and Class 1 Flying Physical Examination prior to approval for appointment. It is also recommended to either have your Private Pilot License (required at some unit locations) or some prior experience flying on your own.
  • Applicants’ eyesight must be better than or equal to 20/70 uncorrected, corrected to 20/20 (glasses only). Some surgeries are considered acceptable with a local waiver.
  • Applicants are expected to have exemplary bearing and project a positive personal image.
Since each unit is different, the best policy is to speak with the local unit about their local requirements. Our Live Chat operators can assist you by putting you in contact with your local unit to discuss its policies regarding Flying Officer Selection.
