There is always a possibility of being tasked for deployment. Every effort is made to use volunteers first. You may be tasked to deploy when volunteers are not available to meet mission requirements.

There is always the possibility of being tasked for deployment. When trouble strikes your state, your Governor may call out the Air Guard for to perform air rescue or medical response missions, or to assist the local authorities during a natural disaster. Likewise, the President may call on the Air Guard to support the nation's homeland defense mission. It is almost impossible to predict or determine whether, when, or for how long you could be deployed. Every effort is made to use volunteers first, and in some cases you may be tasked to deploy when volunteers are not available to meet the mission’s requirements.

In order to qualify for a job in ISR, you must meet the Air Guard’s physical fitness requirements and take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). Contact a recruiter for more qualification details.

Those interested in joining the Air Guard who have never served before must be between the ages of 17 and 39. They are required to pass a written examination called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) as well as an Entrance Physical Examination.
