Minimum enrollment for part-time is 6 credit hours per semester or at least 4 semester hours per quarter. Members may receive no more that 8 semesters of full-time study, 4 academic yrs, or 10 semesters if program requires 5 yrs to complete. Group Insurance 5k-25k term life insurance offered for Guard members, their spouses, and children. No war or aviation exclusion. Injury Death Benefits Members may claim a pension; survivors benefits available to dependants depending on nature and extent of disability. Medical Benefits State Active Duty: Actual expenses authorized for 90 days; may be extended for additional 90 days. Miscellaneous Public employees authorized for 30 calendar days or 22 working days military leave/yr. Distinctive Guard auto plates for $12.25 initial purchase. This program is a non-contributory benefit, meaning no payment or reduction in pay is required to receive these benefits. The Montgomery GI Bill chapter 1606; pays a monthly stipend to offset the cost of attending college full-time or part-time. Another education benefits for members enlisting for six years in a critical skills job is the Montgomery GI Bill kicker of up to $350 per month for full-time college enrollment. If you have prior military service and elected the active duty MGIB, you may still take advantage of this benefit up to a maximum of 48 months of combined benefits at the full-time rate.
